A new car insurance product designed with experienced motorists in mind has been launched by AXA. Its release follows news that the cost of car insurance premiums in the UK made their biggest-ever jump upward in the last three months of 2009, as revealed by the latest AA British Insurance Premium Index.
The new policy, named simply AXA Car Insurance, gives any driver who has been claim-free for eight years or more up to 90 per cent no claims discount, which is the highest level currently available in the market.
A courtesy car is also provided to holders of the new motor insurance policy in instances of fire and theft, while £1 million Driver Injury Cover – an add-on costing £34.99 per year – protects against medical costs and loss of earnings for anyone injured in an accident that's their own fault.
Launching the product, the provider's Tina Shortle pointed out that seasoned motorists make up "well over a third" of the driving population. At a time when car insurance prices are "rising sharply", she added, AXA wants to show them that their experience counts with "a great product and price".
