Well, it looks like the cold snap has finally left us and there is a major thaw taking place across the land. Although you might be chomping at the bit to take your car for a spin after being stuck at home for the past week, it’s important to give it a thorough check beforehand.
This is the advice from car insurance provider M&S Money. Its head of insurance, David Wells, says drivers need to heed police advice to avoid accidents and break-downs. He stated, “before getting back into your vehicle, clear all snow and ice, making sure that you have clear visibility.”
He added, "also ensure that your vehicle is roadworthy, including checking the tyre conditions and that all lights are working."
The Met Office says that temperatures should be set to rise gradually to a balmy seven degrees across England over the coming few days. Now we are all used to dealing with freezing temperatures, snow and ice – maybe we won’t leave our anti-freeze levels unchecked and our ice scraper at home when the next cold snap suddenly appears!
