A year's free car insurance isn't the only thing one avid motorist has won after entering Swinton's "win-a-project-car" competition.

Factory worker Andrew Hall is also the new owner of a classic Nissan Skyline R33 twin-turbo super-coupe – specially imported from Japan and worth over £10,000 – thanks to the performance and modified car insurance broker.

Specialist car insurance provider Swinton has further given the 46-year-old £2,000 towards vehicle modifications of his choice.

He admitted to reporters he thought the winning call from the motor insurance firm "was a wind-up", adding: "Then I remembered the competition had been mentioned when I called Swinton Specialist for a quote on my current car – which I actually took up because it was cheaper than my renewal."

Representatives for Swinton revealed that 75,000 motor insurance customers entered this year's project-car contest, which was the third of its kind to be organised by the company.

"We're delighted for Andrew and wish him an enjoyable future with the Skyline. As a confirmed petrolhead already, I'm sure he'll have great fun with it," said Rob Asher, head of Swinton Specialist.

Swinton also provides competitive van insurance quotes for motorists.
