New customers are being offered eight weeks of free car insurance from Direct Line, a move aimed at helping anyone experiencing a tightened household budget during the recession.
Representatives for the car insurance provider say the deal gives motorists the usual high-quality policy features, but at a discounted premium.
Kerry Chilvers, head of marketing for Direct Line, adds that the provider's comprehensive car insurance option includes a Vandalism Promise and an Uninsured Driver Promise.
For any motorist who makes a claim for damage caused by vandalism, the Vandalism Promise ensures they will not lose their no claims discount. The Uninsured Driver Promise makes sure drivers lose neither their no claims discount nor their excess if they claim for an accident that is not their fault and the driver of the car that hits them is not insured.
Chilvers claims Direct Line has "some of the best-value products on the market" in the current financial climate, stating: "We're not on price comparison websites and we don't pay anyone commission, so when customers come to us direct, they could benefit from additional savings."
The free car insurance offer for new Direct Line customers ends on 30th November.
